I am often asked if hypnotherapy for anxiety works.  The short answer is YES, hypnotherapy can be extremely effective in reducing and even completely eliminating anxiety symptoms.  The first step towards freeing yourself from anxiety is understanding that it is a by-product of chronic stress; although you might not conscious know what it causing it, there is usually a root cause. 

When life stresses turn into anxiety

Many different things activate a stress response in your body, sometimes they’re actually good things like being given more responsibility at work or caring for a new baby.  When you have demands placed upon you, your body responds by releasing a cocktail of chemicals into your bloodstream.  These chemicals prime you for ‘fight or flight’ which is a helpful response if the cause if some kind of physical danger.  But this chemical response can be unhelpful if the external demand is emotional and there is no need for the extra energy, leaving these stress chemicals still inside your body. 

Because your body remains in their heightened state of awareness you can feel jumpy or jittery, find it hard to concentrate or sleep and become snappy or irritable.  When this state continues for a prolonged period of time it can tip over into anxiety.
